Halloween Bat Crown Tutorial
Halloween is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you haven’t even thought about a costume yet. This bat crown is my favorite kind of costume, just add a headband to a regular black outfit and VOILA! Halloween-y. And then make everyone call you Batma’am all day.
MATERIALS:
Blank Headband
The free pattern for the bats is HERE.
INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP ONE:
Cut tulle into 3 12” strips across the width of the yardage. You can fold the tulle to make it easier.
STEP TWO:
Fold the strips in half lengthwise and gather using a long running stitch. Pull the thread tight to form poofs and tie off your thread.
STEP THREE:
Using a length of wire, attach the tulle poofs to your headband, one in the center and 2 on either side.
STEP FOUR:
Using the provided pattern, cut out your felt bats. I used one of the larger size and seven of the small size.
STEP FIVE:
To assemble the larger bat, scrunch the center together using a couple of running stitches.
Wrap a small piece of felt around the center and secure with a few stitches.
STEP SIX:
Attach the large bat to the headband with wire, wrapping around the middle of the bat and then around the headband. Position at your desired height.
Attach the smaller bats in the same way, using 2 bats per wire.
STEP SEVEN:
Hot glue star sequins to the tulle and the wires to add some sparkle.
VOILA!
Batma’am.
