INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP ONE:

Tear your fabric into a square.

30” is a good size for a medium box, larger books, or a wine bottle. A bit smaller is good for smaller items. To tear, measure 30” across, make a small snip in the edge of the fabric and rip.

STEP TWO:

Finish the edges. There are a few options for this.

1: Leave the raw edges as they are.

2: Add a yarn border. Using your sewing machine, zig zag over a piece of yarn about 1/2 inch away from the raw edge, pivoting at the corners.

3: Make a tiny rolled hem. If you have a rolled hem foot you like, use that. If you don’t have a rolled hem foot, start by ironing the edge in about 1/2 inch. Stitch as close to the fold as you can. Trim the edge as close to the line of stitching as you can.

Fold the edge over one more time, iron and then stitch down.

STEP THREE:

Decorate the gift wrap.

Using fabric paint or a fabric marker, paint your desired design.

STEP FOUR:

Wrap your gift!

For a rectangular item, place the item on a diagonal, wrap the opposite corners around the item, and then take the remaining corners and tie them in a knot.

For a wine bottle or other cylindrical item, place it on the gift wrap on a diagonal, with the bottom of the bottom at the center point of the gift wrap. roll it up, fold the bottom half of the wrap up and then tie at the top.
